Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Almena, WI is set to undergo a long awaited project to make modifications to the exterior and front entry of the church. In the last few months the church has seen new front entry doors and a new metal roof installed on the church. Now it's time for the major work to begin. Northwest Builders will begin excavating the old steps and areas around the basement walls of the church on March 20th, 2017. Exterior basement walls be inspected, repaired and appropriate water proofing applied. The front entry has been completely redesigned by Skemp Technical Support Services and will feature a full patio that provides access to all three doors on the front of the building. The front entry will include long sloping ramps to provide handicap access to the building from the parking lots on either side of the church. Steps will be included on each side to provide access to the street level. This portion of the project is expected to take about three months to complete.
While the project is underway, the 8:30 AM Sunday Mass will be moved to St. Ann's Catholic Church in Turtle Lake, WI.
