On Monday July 25, 2016 Fr. Tom Thompson was presented with the Brother I. Damien Award in recognition of his continued support of the Dunrovin Christian Brothers Retreat Center near Stillwater, MN. The award was presented to him during the annual dinner cruise the Retreat Center puts on every year to raise funds. Fr. Tom is a strong advocate for Dunrovin and is a valued contributer to the centers success.
Fr. Tom has been a regular around the retreat center for many years. He began working at Dunrovin as a life guard while growing up in Stillwater. He spent many summers there and and in 1998 became a board member for the next 8 years. He recently returned to the board and continues to work with the center in that capacity. He is passionate about Dunrovin its efforts to instill faith in the youth who attend there. Fr. Tom does anywhere from 8 to 10 Masses a year at Dunrovin, often driving over on Saturday evening after doing Masses in Turtle Lake and Cumberland. He is greatly respected and appreciated at Dunrovin for all the work that he does.
